You can easily convert documents, text, or images to make them more accessible to people with visual impairments.
RoboBraille (http://robobraille.org/ro) is an email and web-based service capable of automatically converting documents into a variety of alternative formats for people with visual impairments and reading difficulties.
RoboBraille offers four different categories of services:
Braille Services
Transcription of documents to and from Braille in accordance with Braille codes for Danish, British English, American English, Italian, French, Greek, German, Icelandic, Norwegian, Portuguese, Slovenian, and Spanish. They can be formatted, paginated, and delivered as ready-to-emboss files in a variety of digital Braille formats.
Audio Services
Conversion to MP3 and DAISY files, including DAISY math books. Audio conversion features currently include high-quality voices for Arabic, Arabic/ bilingual English, British and American English, Bulgarian, Danish, Dutch, German, French, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovenian, Castilian, and Latin American Spanish.
E-book services
Documents can be converted into both EPUB and Mobi (Amazon Kindle) e-book formats. Additionally, EPUB files can be converted to Mobi and vice versa. To assist users with low vision, the baseline of the text body in an e-book can be increased to allow for better text scaling by e-book readers.
Accessibility Services
Other inaccessible documents, such as image files in GIF, TIFF, JPG, BMP, PCX, DCX, J2K, JP2, JPX, DJV, and PDF image formats, as well as all types of PDF files, can be converted into several accessible formats, including PDF, DOC, DOCX, Word XML, XLS, XLSX, csv, text, RTF, and HTML. The service also supports converting Microsoft Office documents to PDF and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations to RTF and HTML files. (robobraille.org)
