This privacy policy describes how Hangman ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

The App does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information (such as name, email address, or phone number) to use it.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device Information. The App may collect non-personal device information such as device type, operating system version, and language settings. This information is used by third-party advertising services as described below.

Game Data (Local Only). The following data is stored solely on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

• Game history (scores, words guessed, session timestamps)
• Settings preferences (keyboard layout, sound/haptic toggles, volume, difficulty, category selections, TTS preferences)
• Seen words (to avoid repeats during gameplay)
• Saved game state (in-progress game data)
• Best score records

All game data is stored locally using SQLite databases and a JSON settings file in the app's private storage.

2. Third-Party Services

2.1 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App uses Google AdMob to serve advertisements. AdMob may collect and use device information, advertising identifiers, and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. Google's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy.

• Service: Google AdMob (react-native-google-mobile-ads)
• Purpose: Serving banner and interstitial advertisements
• Data collected: Device identifiers (such as Android Advertising ID or iOS IDFA), IP address, approximate location, app usage data, ad interaction data
• Consent: For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), a consent form is presented before personalized ads are served, in compliance with GDPR. You can choose to receive non-personalized ads.

2.2 Text-to-Speech (expo-speech)

The App uses the device's built-in text-to-speech engine to read hints and words aloud. No speech data or audio is transmitted, recorded, or stored.

2.3 Audio Playback (expo-audio)

Sound effects are played locally from files bundled with the App. No audio data is transmitted.

3. Permissions

Android. The App may request the following permissions:

• VIBRATE — Used for haptic feedback during gameplay
• RECORD_AUDIO — Required by the audio system for playback control (audio is never recorded)
• MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS — Required to adjust audio output settings

iOS. No special permissions are requested beyond standard app functionality.

4. Data Storage and Security

All game data is stored locally on your device using secure, app-private storage. We do not operate servers, collect personal data, or transmit your information to any backend system.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except as necessary for advertising via Google AdMob as described in Section 2.1.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided personal data, we will take steps to delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

• Right to know what data is collected about you
• Right to opt out of personalized advertising (available via the consent form)
• Right to delete all app data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the application

For EEA Users (GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Withdraw consent for personalized advertising at any time
• Access, rectify, or erase any personal data processed
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

For California Users (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to:

• Know what personal information is collected
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
• Request deletion of personal information

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and/or on our website. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
